Safety – Order – Excellence

A message from our Executive Board President regarding parade safety:

We would like to remind you about the importance of safety during the parade. Whether you're a participant or a spectator, let's make this event a joyful and accident-free celebration!

Crossing the Street

Please do not attempt to cross the street while the parade is traveling down the street.

Staying Alert

Stay alert during the parade! Enjoy the festivities but keep your eyes and ears open. Watch out for floats, performers, and moving vehicles.

Keeping a Safe Distance

Remember to maintain a safe distance from parade vehicles, floats and participants. Respect barriers and boundaries set by organizers. Avoid running into the street to grab candy or souvenirs. Your safety is important to us.

Hydration

Parade days can be hot and sunny. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

Lost and Found

If you get separated from your group or your child, look for the nearest parade official or police officer. Teach children to recognize these individuals and instruct them to seek help if they're lost. Make sure everyone knows a meeting point in case of separation.

Respect Emergency Services

In the unlikely event of an emergency, stay calm and follow the instructions of emergency personnel. Clear a path and give them the space they need to reach those in need. Your cooperation can make a significant difference in someone's life. All marchers must move promptly to the right side of the street and halt in place until all fire apparatus, ambulances, or other emergency vehicles have passed.

Alcohol Consumption

No alcoholic beverages are to be consumed and/or carried along the parade route, or in the staging/assembly area by spectators and/or participants in the parade. The New Haven Police Department will enforce penalties for Disorderly Conduct and all other Alcohol-Related Violations.

We thank the CT Violence Intervention Program, Ice The Beef, and members of the community in advance for stressing the importance of having a safe, violence free event. Let's make this parade a memorable one for all the right reasons. By following these safety tips, we can ensure a fun and accident-free celebration. Together, we can create cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Have a fantastic and safe time at the parade!
